One Health in Nepal

One Health Concept emphasizes on multidisciplinary approach to study disease dynamics interlinking wildlife, environment, livestock and human health with multiple disciplines working together (locally, nationally and globally) to achieve optimal health for all.

The rapid speed at which zoonotic pathogens can potentially emerge and spread of from animals to people could pose serious threat to public health and economy. Majority of these diseases originated in “hot spot” areas such as Central Africa, and South and Southeast Asia where multiple and complex factors contribute to zoonotic disease spillover into human populations.

To fulfill current knowledge gap in global health, CMDN is currently engaged in One Health based research activities that are investigating emerging infectious/zoonotic disease dynamics at various interfaces including at rural and urban interfaces to achieve One Health’s ultimate goal: One Health-Better World-Better Future.
