Virus Discovery in Animals (Domestic and Wildlife) and Humans in Rural and Urban Interfaces Using Latest in Molecular Tools-PREDICT Nepal project

Threat of emerging infectious diseases in humans has increased dramatically in recent decades especially in the developing countries. PREDICT Nepal, a project under USAID’s Emerging Pandemic Threats Program, utilizes One Health approach to comprehend disease dynamics in animal, human and environmental health. CMDN is collaborating with University of California Davis (UC Davis), School of Veterinary, USA, Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (Nepal), Department of Livestock (Nepal), Department of Epidemiology and Disease Control (Nepal) for PREDICT Nepal Project.

After focusing mainly on urban areas for the past 3 years, PREDICT Nepal project is now looking into other potential disease dynamic “hotspots” in rural and forest land converted areas with high interaction between humans and animals.
